Originally titled, "The Reborning Of The Contemporary Artist," the baby, occasionally referred to as "the reborn artist," or just "baby," has taken on a life of his own. Made in the image of his maker, "the baby" was intended to be a mini-narrative that would clearly trigger an improvisational situation where the performative ties of all its references and associations were apparent and the space that the baby would inhabit (between people and the event that held them) would be full of awkward potential.

The site-specific performance titled "Was machen wir?!" took place over the period of ten minutes, during which the artist, Tobey Albright, attempted to make a deep connection with the artist reborn by using common methods of memetic behavior. Towards the end of the performance, the artist and the reborn artist were nearly indistinguishable.

Do you like this, baby? I actually made it for your Uncle Chris after he posted an image of an albino dear someone had photographed in Wisconsin. The picture made me think of ghosts, being possessed, appropriation, the color green and whether or not any of that is relevant anymore. I wondered so hard that I never really finished the drawing and now I think I'll just let your generation decide.

After the monkey proclaimed that he'd figured out a new way to eat a banana, one monkey was overheard whispering to another monkey that he thought he had seen a banana eaten like that before. At that moment, the monkey who had discovered the new way of eating the banana retorted, "It's not about how the banana looks, it's about how the banana feels in the mouth of the eater."

The two monkeys made their pact for loving memory. She was laughing hysterically from the couch. After being asked what she had found that was so funny, she attempted to tell the joke of the man who had a conversation with his hamster. The joke was something to the effect of the man telling the hamster that they could never have any nice things together because the hamster was so naturally destructive that everything nice would quickly lose that quality. She kept laughing hysterically.

The figurine (souvenir) for the new David was made after the artist's decision to reverse the production process of the new monument. Instead of starting with a drawing and then a maquette, an actual full scale bronze and finally a tiny figurine (souvenir), the process started with a tiny figurine (souvenir) and drawing, and will include a full scale bronze and finally a maquette. The artist felt that this process reversal would assist in channeling the spirit of the 16th Century version more effectively through the historical dynamic of the present.

The location was rather secluded, and when the corn grew up in the summer, became rather difficult to find. [Identical sculpture located in Ruebens room at The Ringling Museum in Sarasota.]
